Kentucky Horse Breeder’s Incentive Fund (KHBIF)
The Kentucky Horse Breeders Incentive Fund (KHBIF) is a state program established by the Kentucky General Assembly in 2005 to support and incentivize the horse breeding industry in Kentucky. The program provides financial rewards to breeders of Kentucky-bred horses that achieve success in various competitions across the globe. The KHBIF supports multiple horse breeds and disciplines, making it possible for breeders of all types of horses to receive rewards for their success. The fund is financed primarily through sales tax on stud fees and aims to keep Kentucky's horse industry competitive and thriving on a global stage. To be eligible for the KHBIF program, the horse must be bred and foaled in the state of Kentucky. Eligible horses must be nominated annually. Horses earn points in the KHBIF program through participation in the show program.
To participate in the show program, riders and owners must be members, riders must have an annual rider card, and horses must be registered and certified. Show rules under revision – please check back
