KMSHA DNA REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION

 

This policy became effective December 1, 2004

 

Where it may be possible; Mares and Stallions starting December 1, 2004 must have DNA on file with the KMSHA office for IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES ONLY.  No horse will be eligible for  certification/registration or transfer of ownership until DNA is on file in the KMSHA office.

 

All fillies and colts foaled on or after December 1, 2004 must have DNA on file with the KMSHA office for PROOF OF PARENTAGE for temporary registration papers.  All fillies and colts registered with the KMSHA on or after December 1, 2004 must be able to prove parentage to be eligible for full registration (if Parentage is found to exist).

 

Appendix mares must have DNA on file with the KMSHA office for IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES ONLY before registration and certification papers will be issued.

 

Appendix mares' offspring must be sired by a registered and certified KMSHA stallion for temporary registration papers to be issued.  Offspring must have DNA on file with the KMSHA for PROOF OF PARENTAGE for temporary registration papers.  Fillies and colts of appendix mares must be able to prove parentage to be eligible for full registration (if Parentage is found to exist).

DNA KITS

DNA reports can be purchased from the office for a charge of $45.00 each.  We can complete the paperwork for you. You will need to provide us with 20 to 30 tail hairs from the root and send it in along with a check, money order, or credit card information.
